That winter, it was cold

Rivers froze
Birds flew away,
To tropics they went.
How I missed their chirping,
Their morning sweet sweet songs,
That winter;
The evergreens withered,
The sky turned all grey.

Bridge over a pond in the winter, Johannapark, Leipzig, Germany
It’s all water under the bridge.
I remember.
We couldn’t swim no more.
Summer came, It got warm (my child)
Rivers ran deep and clear.
Heavy clouds faded,
To a shiny blue sky.
We could run outside…
And yes…we ran..we played
and ran again
Till exhausted, we swam….
In the river.
